        Railway Station Accessibility Map

Tokyo Subway (556 kB pdf file)
Tokyo Railway (553 kB pdf file)

The maps show conditions of accessibility to platform from street and wheelchair accessible toilet at all stations in Tokyo. The structure of most station buildings in Tokyo(except in the suburbs) are above or underground with stairs to platform from street. Some stations have enhanced facilities such as elevators, wheelchair accessible escalators, stair wheelchair lifts or ramps (see photos below.) 70 percent of all the stations in Tokyo are accessible to platform(Improvement at stations is not seen in local cities except main stations, but progressive improvement can be seen in big cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama and Kyoto).
When in trouble with stairs & bumps at stations, please request assistance from railway staff. The railway staff will guide you to the platform and help you get on the train, or bring you a portable platform to help your boarding. The staff will come again to help & guide you when you get off the train if you tell the staff the name of your destination when boarding.
